Joe Franceski has worked in the aerospace insurance and defense industry since 1984. Until recently, he was Managing Director and Head of the Aviation and Space Claims Department (US) at Marsh Aviation, in which capacity he acted as a trusted client advocate to aerospace manufacturers and airlines on coverage matters; policy interpretation and drafting; complex contract reviews and analysis; London and EU insurance market practices; litigation and settlement strategies in major cases, and emergency response planning.
After 9/11/01 (during the events of which, he was directly involved in his company’s response) he became involved in Safety Act counseling, and anti-terrorism technology product development insofar as it involved aerospace insurance matters. Previously, we was an aviation claims attorney, and then Vice President at US Aviation Underwriters in New York where he managed products liability, airlines and general aviation investigations, claims, trials, appeals, settlements and mediations. He was a resource expert in the products liability law in the European Union, and for several years handled the firm’s participation in non-US based manufacturers, and international claims. Additionally, he was involved in counseling and drafting focused on risk-assessment and mitigation strategies. Prior to coming to New York to work at USAIG, Franceski was an active trial lawyer in Hartford, Connecticut. He worked at Howard, Kohn, Sprague & FitzGerald, and then at Gillette & Sullivan and its successor firms. His trial experience included automobile tort cases; industrial products liability; municipal liability suits involving police and fire departments; trade disparagement and “false light” claims and professional liability matters for architects and engineers.
Joe Franceski has been a frequent speaker/presenter and panelist at aviation-related CLE and client-specific seminars and workshops, both nationally and in Europe.
In addition to providing legal services to Fitzpatrick & Hunt, Pagano, Aubert clients, Franceski will be a principal in the firms coverage practice. The focus will be on policy review and analysis to provide clear and practical coverage advice to underwriters on claims related to airline, general aviation, and lender-lessor policies.
Joe Franceski will work primarily out of the Stamford, CT office, but will also be available to clients in the New York office. He earned his A.B. degree with honors at Fordham University (1973); and his law degree at The University of Connecticut (1976). He is admitted to practice in New York (1985) and Connecticut (1976).
