Aviation Law and Litigation

Our aviation and aerospace team has an outstanding track record defending aviation product manufacturers, airframe manufacturers, maintenance providers, airport service and security firms, fixed base operators, airlines, and suppliers in lawsuits stemming from crashes and malfunctions around the world. The firm also handles subrogation matters for aviation insurers. Many of our lawyers have engineering backgrounds, are licensed pilots and Airframe and Powerplant mechanics, giving clients a winning edge in aerospace litigation.

We’re proud of our success representing system suppliers and engine manufacturers in crashes and incidents involving large airlines, including American, Air France, TWA, and Mandala Airways of Indonesia, among others, as well as smaller carriers, including ValuJet and West Caribbean Airlines. We defended a Boston Logan Airport security firm in litigation arising from the 9/11 terrorist attacks, suits arising from helicopter crashes and satellite system failures, along with a wide range of other aviation and aerospace related issues.

In the aerospace universe, we’ve successfully represented clients with fuel and propulsion issues, deployment malfunctions, telemetry system anomalies, stabilization system patent licensing, and solar panel deterioration, to name just a few. We serve clients responsible for aerospace navigation systems, component parts, and unmanned space vehicle systems.

Risk management is an integral part of our client relationships, and we lever our years of experience to head off losses before they occur, where possible. We stay abreast of emerging technology, such as the widespread use of drones. We help clients anticipate developments that may lead to claims and litigation. We know the law. We know the technology. We take cases to trial when necessary. At any stage of a potential or active dispute, our aviation and aerospace team can provide clients with gold standard representation.
